Dr. Jeffrey Mensah is a third-year fellow with Associates of Integrative Medicine in Michigan in supportive care oncology. He completed his doctorate in naturopathic medicine at National University of Health Sciences in Illinois with a special interest in Men’s Health. Dr. Mensah was one of a handful of graduates nationwide to be accepted into a residency in integrative oncology. He is areas of interest are microbiome health with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies; metabolic control during treatment and surviorship; nutritional counseling, palliative and end-of-life care.
Outside of patient care, Dr. Mensah served as an editor and writer for numerous peer-reviewed journal articles in integrative medicine. He currently serves on the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners, writing and reviewing exam questions for the Naturopathic Physicians’ Licensing Examinations. In Michigan, he has taught patient groups at Gilda’s Club, Michigan Alliance of Ovarian Cancer, Michigan Institute of Urology, and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, on metabolic contributors, nutrition, cardiotoxic effects from treatment, sleep and stress in cancer care.
Dr. Mensah was initially drawn to integrative oncology witnessing patients better manage their side effects and optimize their quality of life using novel, leading-edge natural therapies. As a doctor, these experiences inspired him to be intentional about combining natural and conventional medicine to bring people individualized, evidence-based, comprehensive, holistic care.
Dr. Mensah believes in empowering patients through education, understanding that it improves the quality of care and creates more positive outcomes in a patient’s journey with their health. Dr. Mensah is always willing to “go the distance” with patients to explain their diagnosis, treatment, and options to equip them to make well-informed decisions for their health.
